Colin Jenkinson

As of February 2011, Colin is working with Cogapp via his new venture, Endless.  

Colin has over 12 years experience as a graphic designer behind him, bringing his breadth of knowledge and diverse skill range to every project he works on. Recently this has involved work for the Great North Museum, National Portrait Gallery, British Museum, Arts Council, BBC and the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Colin's work with the design department has been recognised in Design Week and at the iDesign Conference 2007.

Colin started working for Cogapp in 2003 and was made Design Director in October 2007. His work previous to joining Cogapp includes interactive projects with Mute Records, Sony and Channel 4, branding work with Wolff Olins and Leo Burnett, and BAFTA-winning animation with Interfield and the BBC.

Colin has a BA Honours Degree from Saint Martins, graduating in 1993. He is a member of D&AD, the Typographic Circle and Central St Martins Alumni Network.

Billy Lowe

Office Administrator

Billy joined Cogapp in February 2008 as Office Administrator, a role that ensured the smooth and effective running of the Cogapp office. His responsibilities ranged from managing purchasing and day-to-day administration, to making arrangements relating to promotion, events and travel.

He worked closely with Cogapp’s Business Manager and Deputy Business Manager, and helped review Cogapp’s internal processes and assisted with internal projects and recruitment. Billy also played a key role in the management, promotion and marketing of Codeo, Cogapp's coding competition, and gained experience implementing a new user-testing database.

Billy left Cogapp in March 2011 to work for London advertising and digital agency Crispin Porter + Bogusky.

Ollie Aplin

Mid-Weight Designer

As a Mid-Weight Designer, Ollie applied his extensive design knowledge to projects and proposals, and was involved in everything from interface design to online identity for cultural campaigns. He also worked in collaboration with the user experience team to combine his design skills with Cogapp's rigorous approach to user-centered design.

Ollie initially joined Cogapp in 2009 as a freelance designer and worked with us on a number of high profile projects including The Arts Council. Following his superb freelance work he joined Cogapp as a permanent Mid-Weight Designer in May 2010. His design skills encompass branding, digital and print and he has a special passion for crafted typography. His experience of working with national clients has helped him develop his creative abilities, which he used to provide Cogapp's clients with beautiful and inspiring online design solutions.

Ollie has a BA (Hons) degree from the University of Brighton and worked as a freelance designer for 5 years. His work was featured in the D&AD Student Annual 2007.

Ollie left Cogapp in February 2011 to pursue a freelance career in London.

Cathy Pierce

User Experience Consultant

Cathy joined Cogapp in May 2008 as User Experience Consultant, bringing her wealth of experience to our fast-growing offering in user-centred research, design and Information Architecture.

Whilst at Cogapp, Cathy conducted usability testing for a range of public sector, commercial and charity clients, including the UK Borders Agency, Transport for London and a major mobile and broadband operator. She also carried out workshops for the National Archives, Information Architecture work for the Home Office, and ethnographic research and usability testing for the Arthritis Research Campaign. Cathy has extensive experience in this field, having previously worked as User Experience Consultant for Flow Interactive, Principal Consultant for CCD Design and Ergonomics and as Usability Engineer for IconMedia Lab. She has a range of skills in key user research techniques including usability testing, card sorting, focus groups and workshops and environmental user experience. She is also experienced in collaborative design and product design evaluation.

Cathy has an MSc in Human Factors of Human Computer Interaction from University College London and a BSc in Psychology from the University of London. She is a member of the Usability Professionals Association, the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the Ergonomics Society, and part of the University College London alumni network.

Cathy left Cogapp in February 2011 to pursue a career as a freelance user experience consultant.

Ben Aquilina

Designer

As Senior Designer, Ben took a leading role in meeting the design requirements for Cogapp's projects. Bringing ten years of experience in interactive and print-based design with him, this included everything from workshops and design strategy to template design and style guide creation. He had particular expertise in conceiving and delivering brands and identities for organisations, or extending and enhancing existing brands to better serve their needs.

Ben was lead designer on the full-scale redevelopment of the National Portrait Gallery's website, a large project delivered in early 2009. He also took the lead role redesigning the Jewish Museum's website, a major upgrade for the New York museum completed in late 2008. Other key work includes consultancy and phased strategy design work for the National Archives, leading identity work for an Arts Council campaign website, and designing an interactive for the Great North Museum in Newcastle.

Ben graduated from Bath University with a BA Hons in Graphic Design. Prior to joining Cogapp he worked in a broad base of disciplines from music packaging to brand positioning. Key achievements include leading a team of designers on re-branding West Dean art college and developing the brand for Rapha Racing, an online premium cycle clothing company.

Ben left Cogapp in October 2010 to set up his own design studio and continues to work as a freelance designer for Cogapp.
 

Sam Wander

Producer

As a Producer, Sam's role focused on core project work, such as wireframe development, user research and project management. In his three years at Cogapp, Sam worked on projects for the Airborne Forces Museum at IWM Duxford, Home Office, Office for Criminal Justice Reform and Arthritis Research Campaign, among many others. He also managed support relationships with clients we've worked with in the past, such as the Centre for Research and Development and Art Design Media Subject Centre at the University of Brighton, helping to deliver enhancements and ensuring the ongoing stability of their websites.

Sam initially joined Cogapp in February 2007 as Office Administrator, where he was tasked with running the office, and assisting internal projects. His first year with the company provided invaluable exposure to many aspects of our work, and greatly strengthened his business understanding. He moved into the Production Department in January 2008.

Sam left Cogapp in October 2010 and continues to work as a Digital Projects Manager at Corporate Edge, a brand led communications agency in London.

Pete Gale

Head of User Experience

Pete led Cogapp’s user experience and consultancy offering for a wide range of corporate, public sector and charity clients. As a Head of User Experience he managed the flourishing UX department, which grew immensely throughout his time at Cogapp.

He managed user experience and IA work for the Home Office, Macmillan Cancer Support, the National Archives, a major mobile and broadband provider, a large pubic transport operator, and many many more. As well as undertaking dedicated consultancy work, he contributed his broad expertise into design and build projects. For example, he conceived and developed the sophisticated information architecture of the ParaData website and kiosk for the Airborne Forces Museum at IWM Duxford, delivered in late 2008.

In all Pete has several hundred user research sessions under his belt, in the lab and in the field, and over a decade's experience in designing, developing and testing interfaces across a range of channels and devices including touch screen kiosks, interactive TV, web and mobile. 

Pete left Cogapp in 2010 after three years with the company. He goes on to work for Blue Latitude, a Digital Business and Marketing Consultancy, leading their user experience offering and providing consultancy to clients.

John Murphy

Business Development Coordinator

As Business Development Coordinator, John's role encompassed a range of tasks to achieve business targets for company promotion. He wrote copy for the company website and other media, marketing collateral, blog posts and more. John also contributed towards business development campaigns and assisted in delivering proposals for work in the public and not for profit sectors.

In addition, he was involved in events organisation, helping to coordinate company events and tracking Cogapp's sponsorship of and attendance at industry events.

John joined Cogapp in July 2008 and took on his new role early in 2009. Before joining Cogapp, John worked at PR agencies in both London and Brighton, as well as working as a teaching assistant for children with a range of special educational needs and spending time teaching English in China whilst at university. He graduated from Sussex University with a BA(Hons) in Philosophy in July 2008.

John left Cogapp in March 2010 and continues to work in communications.

Dr. Niki Strange

Head of Business Development

Niki was responsible for generating new business opportunities and for promoting Cogapp’s project-based and business activities to the wider world. She headed Cogapp’s business development department, managing marketing campaigns and co-ordinating the company’s participation in events, communities and networks. 

Niki came to Cogapp from Wired Sussex, the digital media business development agency, where she worked as a Project Manager delivering events, training and leading trade delegations to overseas markets such as Milia/MipTV. Her background is in arts and factual independent television production, working on strands such as The South Bank Show, Omnibus and Bookmark for the BBC, Channel 4, LWT and PBS in the US.

Niki has a first class honours degree in History of Modern Art, Design and Film, an MA in Film and Television from University of Warwick and, most recently, a DPhil in Media and Cultural Studies from University of Sussex. Her doctoral thesis explored the emergence of multi-platform projects, focussing in particular on the BBC.

She has published work in 'The Television Studies Book', 'Cultural Studies: A Reader', the 'Encyclopaedia of Television' and a number of journals. She is currently co-editing an international collection on 'Television as Digital Media' with Dr James Bennett for Duke University Press in the US.

Niki has presented her research at a number of academic conferences and has organised and/or chaired large-scale digital sector industry events on subjects such as 'Contracting with the Public Sector', 'PR for Virgins' and 'Digital Technologies, Public Libraries & Archives'. In 2007 she presented on multi-platform public engagement campaigns to BBC Arts Producers as part of the BBC’s FutureNow training initiative.

A Research Fellow of University of Sussex and a founder member of the University of Sussex’s Research Centre for Material Digital Culture, she also represents Cogapp as one of twelve national members of the BBC Online External Advisory Group.

Niki left Cogapp in 2010 after 7 years with the company.

Paul Glenshaw

Consultant Producer
In 1993, Paul joined the Washington Micro Gallery team from the graphics staff at the National Gallery of Art. Following the Micro Gallery project, he led new media work at the National Museum of African Art until joining Cogapp in 2000. Paul led work on our Wright Brothers projects, and became Executive Director of the Discovery of Flight Foundation in 2005.

Mat Walker

Producer
As an experienced Producer, Mat worked with the rest of the production department and the user experience team to help clients use online and interactive media to achieve their objectives and better serve their intended audiences. At Cogapp, he managed and delivered projects for the BBC, Arts Council and Brighton and Hove Council, amongst others. He also established a close relationship with the National Archives, managing a series of projects through 2008-9 with a view to improving their online offering.

With over 10 years of commercial IT experience, mainly in the e-learning, web and charity sectors for clients like British Airways, NatWest and the DfES, Mat has a strong background in development. Before joining Cogapp, he worked at SCIP (Sussex Community Internet Project) and managed the IT support department. During his time at SCIP Mat helped numerous charity and community groups with their IT needs, including Age Concern, MS Society and the Big Issue.

Mat is a creator of the popular Brighton New Media email discussion list and has been involved with setting up several local new media community events. He graduated from the University of Humberside in 1996 with a Degree in Media Production, and is also a PRINCE2 certified project manager.

After leaving Cogapp in 2009, Mat has continued his career as a freelance producer.

Ian Smith

Head of Interactive
As Head of Interactive, Ian was responsible for developing installations for museums and galleries, interactive programs for education, and bespoke art installations such as the Prudential Eye. He was also heavily involved in our development of multi-platform projects.

His many years of experience managing and producing projects are supported by a technical background - he worked for five years as a programmer both for Cogapp and on a freelance basis. This background enabled Ian to produce some of our most technically challenging or unusual projects, such as the creation and delivery of 22 interactives and audio visual productions for the Great North Museum in Newcastle, and the innovative projection system created for Prudential plc in 2007-8. Other key work included the production of a series of richly interactive e-Learning activities for BBC Jam, built in accessible Flash, and the full scale redevelopment of the National Portrait Gallery website, delivered in early 2009, for which Ian was creative producer. Earlier experience included work on Man-U-Net, an interactive for Manchester United's museum; the National Portrait Gallery Portrait Explorer, a kiosk system for the gallery that has served for more than 10 years; and Shakespeare's Globe, a set of nine interactives for the permanent exhibition beneath the rebuilt theatre.

His client experience includes work with the Science Museum, the National Gallery, the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority, Nelson Thornes, Granada Learning and The Big Bus Education Ltd. In all Ian has worked on over fifty digital media projects. Ian is a member of the Museums and Computers group, and has both spoken at conferences for, and been published by, Heritage 365. He is a certified PRINCE2 project manager.

Ian left Cogapp in 2009 and is now continuing his career as a freelance digital consultant. 

Natalie Vescia

Digital Marketing Executive
Natalie was Cogapp’s Digital Marketing Executive, responsible for maintaining the company’s strong client base and exploring new business opportunities. Coordinating marketing campaigns and press releases, writing project proposals and events management were just some elements of her role.

Prior to joining Cogapp, Natalie worked in the hustle and bustle of Carnaby Street, as a Marketing Coordinator for Liberty in London. There, her multi-faceted role involved creatively managing the exclusive events and marketing communications targeted at its loyal cardholder base.

Whilst completing her BA (Hons) in Business and Marketing, she completed a year’s placement at Xerox, where she worked for the European division of the company as a Marketing Executive. Natalie initiated the structure for the first Xerox Europe PIXI Awards website and managed a bi-monthly multilingual newsletter sent to over 100 clients.

Natalie is now pursuing freelance Marketing opportunities around Brighton and beyond.

Tim Hewitt

Interactive Software Specialist
Tim is a Flash Platform developer (Adobe Air, Actionscript, Flex) who utilises other programming languages (Objective-C, Python) and visual development tools (Quartz Composer, OpenGL).

As our Interactive Software Specialist, Tim developed creative technical solutions for our projects. He worked on various touchscreen and projection interactives for the Great North Museum; creating visual elements for the ambitious Prudential Eye project and architecting and developing the front-end for MoMA.Guide.

He graduated with a Philosophy and Theology degree from Kent University, and has been building up his self-taught programming skills over 10 years working on interactive digital including e-learning for Pearson Education & the BBC, and desktop applications for 20th Century Fox and EA Games.

Tim left Cogapp in April 2009 and is pursuing freelance projects.

Fiona Dungay

Designer
Fiona was Cogapp's midweight designer, a role that covered interactive communications in the widest sense, from online and offline design to internal promotional material and production design work. She worked closely with the design, production and technical departments in all stages of the creative process from ideas generation to delivery.

She worked on projects for clients including the Jewish Museum, the British Museum and the Social Care Institute for Excellence. She was also involved in the creation of new identities for the ICONS project and the Centre for Research and Development at Brighton University. In addition to Fiona's online and offline design work, she gained experience in brainstorming, proposals, pitching and presenting.

Fiona graduated from the University of Brighton in 2003 with a BA in Graphic Design. Before joining Cogapp she worked as a freelancer with Paul Farrington at Studio Tonne and on a variety of projects for different clients. More recently, she attended courses run by the D&AD and the London College of Communication.

Fiona left Cogapp in February 2009 after four productive years and she is currently working in freelance design.

Dan Nixon

Business Development Co-ordinator
Dan's role as New Business Development Co-ordinator spanned marketing, promotion and liaising with potential clients. Working closely with Cogapp's management group, Dan focussed on generating new opportunities by expanding the range of sectors the company operates in.

He joined Cogapp in May 2007, and worked on the promotional presence for Cogapp at several events, including dConstruct and Hack Day, as well as successfully launching Cogapp's external blog.

Dan Nixon graduated with a first class degree in Film and Television from the University of Westminster in 2002. After University he worked for the Data Infrastructure department of EDF's Networks division before returning to Brighton in 2004 to work as a producer at the small feature film company Pull Back Camera. His work there culminated in the selection of one of his films for the Cannes Film Festival '05.

He returned to the film industry in May 2008 after a productive time at Cogapp.

Stuart Lamour

Assistant Producer
Stuart has a broad-ranging role, which includes facilitating technical aspects of Production department work, user research, statistical analysis, project management, and the technical implementation of graphic design, wireframes and Information Architecture. He is also a well-practiced advisor on web 2.0 media distribution such as blogs, content aggregators, and social networking sites.

He joined Cogapp in late 2006, and worked on a multitude of projects. For the British Museum website re-design he modelled a prototype with interactive PHP and AJAX, as well as building initial site component templates with XHTML and CSS. For the Home Office's Immigration and Nationality Directorate he helped undertake extensive user research which included user interviews and reports, card sorting, building wireframes for testing, documenting findings and report writing. He converted Cogapp's pro bono Artguide site from Pearl to PHP and SQL, helped write a research report for the Jewish Museum in New York on museums and web 2.0, and has worked on projects for the National Portrait Gallery, Science Museum, Naked Eye amongst many others. Stuart also customised our own blog, reworking the Wordpress templates with PHP, XHTML and CSS.

Stuart has a BSc in Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science from the University of Sussex.

He moved on to the University of Sussex to work on a national project developing web 2.0 e-learning tools for students, teachers and employers in April 2008.

Jason Ryan

Production Director
After gaining an MSc in Archaeology at University College London, Jason completed his PhD on conservation techniques at Imperial College working with the Victoria and Albert Museum. He then taught at the Royal College of Art on the RCA/V&A Museum Joint Conservation Course. Jason has lectured at conferences and meetings in England and America, and has published a number of academic papers.

Jason has been involved with new media since 1995 and has contributed to over 50 digital projects in the fields of art, science, education, music and film. Outside the interactive field he was assistant director and technical consultant on the short film 'Colin's Wings' about the ceramicist Colin Pearson.

His work with Cogapp included consultancy and information architecture projects for The Home Office, the Houses of Parliament, the British Library, V&A and the British Museum; and interactive projects for the Museum of Modern Art, BBC, Science Museum, National Maritime Museum and The Cleveland Museum of Art. Jason also led the technical and production work on 'The Magical Worlds of Joseph Cornell', a BAFTA-nominated and AAM Muse gold award winning DVD-ROM project produced for the Voyager Foundation, Washington DC.

Jason became Cogapp’s Production Director in mid-2001 following a string of successful project deliveries.

Jason is a certified Prince 2 project manager.

Professor Malcolm Garrett

Design Consultant
Malcolm Garrett is Creative Director at AIG (Applied Information Group, London).

Malcolm is a true pioneer of digital design, technology and thinking. His career has spanned pop music and popular culture, the arts, broadcast, publishing and digital media, including award-winning projects for clients such as Carlton, Trinity College Dublin and the Science Museum. Malcolm was appointed Visiting Professor of Interaction Design at London's Royal College of Art in 2000 and is also Visiting Professor at Central St Martins. In 2000 he was made a Royal Designer for Industry by the Royal Society of Arts, the first interactive media designer to be honoured in this way. Recently, Malcolm has worked with Cogapp as Creative Director of the ICONS project and as consultant for our own re-branding project.

Rory Matthews

Design Consultant Rory Matthews is a designer and design consultant. He was Cogapp’s Design Director from 1991-2000, and he continues to art direct selected projects for us, notably our work on the Magical Worlds of Joseph Cornell project and the Cleveland Museum of Art website.

After graduating from London’s Camberwell School of Art and Crafts in 1978 Rory practised and lectured in graphic design, specialising in interactive media design since 1989. Rory is a member of the Chartered Society of Designers.

Alastair Martindale

Senior Programmer
Alastair Martindale graduated with a degree in Physical Sciences from UCL, London after completing a Foundation in Fine Art at Hastings College. He then went on to obtain an MSc (Distinction) in Information Systems at the University of Brighton.

Alastair joined Cognitive Applications in 1998 as a programmer. He has since worked on a variety of projects including exhibits for the Science Museum and production of database archives and dynamic web sites for Cable & Wireless and the National Portrait Gallery.

Eric Bates

Designer/Producer
Eric Bates works as freelance producer/designer and lecturer. He graduated from Maidstone College of Art, where he studied Fine Art, followed by an MA in Printmaking at Brighton University, and later an MSc in Computer Graphics at Middlesex University.

Eric worked for Cogapp as a senior designer/project manager between 1997 and 2003. Whilst still working freelance for Cogapp, he now spreads his time between producing, design & digital video and lecturing at Brighton University. Eric still creates content for many of Cogapp's projects, amongst them recent work for the BBC, Manchester United, ICONS - A Portrait of England.

Thomas Kennett

Flash Developer
Tom has worked as a professional developer since 2000, when he graduated from Sussex University with a degree in Artificial Intelligence. Always having had a passion for programming, in 2003 Tom became particularly fascinated with the possibilities offered by the rapidly evolving Flash platform, and began to specialise in Actionscript development - to this discipline he brings his knowledge of software design, and experience with C#, Java and server side tech.

Tom started at Cogapp in 2006 where he is currently working on e-learning projects for the BBC. He devotes much of his spare time to R&D.

John Davison

Illustrator and Animator
John has been freelancing for over 7 years, during which time he has produced a diverse collection of original and outstanding animation for broadcast, interactive media and mobile phones.

Industry acclaim has come locally, from work shown at several of Brighton's D-Scape events as well as providing visuals for Melting Vinyl and ESP club nights.

Nationally, John's work was selected for the 2005 OneDotZero festival, showcasing the best global talent in cutting-edge experimental moving image. Beginning at the ICA London, the tour continued to over 50 countries worldwide.

International accolades have come from as far a field as:

  • Singapore (Design Warriors Art Project)
  • Hamburg (Bit Film Festival)
  • California (The Animation Show - personally programmed by Mike Judge)

His clients include BBC,MTV, Channel4, E4, Orange, Sony, Nintendo and Penguin Books.

Jules Langran

Illustrator and Animator
Jules started freelancing just over two years ago as an illustrator and animator after eight years as a designer and art director. She has worked individually and as part of a team on animation, character development, games, websites, online branding and viral marketing projects for the youth, entertainment, and lifestyle markets as well as creating new, and updating existing licensed products.

Previous clients include the BBC, Campbells, publishers Die Gestalten Verlag, Hewlett Packard, The Licensing Company, The Post Office and Vogue.

Lucia Brida

Bookkeeper
Lucia started her accounts training in West Wales many years ago. She eventually moved to London and worked for an audio visual company as a junior and ended up as a director. She left in 1993 just after her daughter was born and started up her own book-keeping company here in Brighton. Lucia joined Cogapp as a bookkeeper on a freelance basis in 2004.

Cathryn Sweid

Accounts Consultant
Cathryn Sweid joined the company in August 2002 as bookkeeper. Cathryn took a diploma in business studies in Sweden where she lived for 12 years, followed later by one year's AAT studies in Brighton. She started her accounting career working in the hotel business, and has lived and worked abroad in a variety of different organisations before returning to her hometown of Brighton. Cathryn has recently taken up a new role but continues to provide consultancy support for our accounts department.

Stuart Jackson

Senior Producer
Stuart was awarded a doctorate in neural networks and the philosophy of meaning from the University of Exeter in the summer of 1992. He taught and conducted post-doctoral research in the computer science departments of both Exeter and Sheffield universities until 1995, and his work appears in Connectionism and Meaning.

Stuart has worked on interactive and enhanced TV, CD, web and software application projects in a variety of roles for a variety of different organisations, including as programme manager, account manager, producer, project manager and copywriter.

He was previously Production Director at Getfrank, where he ran the delivery effort company-wide, and before that Senior Producer at Victoria Real where he coordinated projects teams across web, DTV and wireless offerings.

Stuart has worked with a wide range of public and private sector clients including the BBC, Channel 4, Culture Online, Interface Europe, Ladbrokes, Norwich Union, Ofcom, Rail Passengers Council, Strategic Rail Authority and Westway Development Trust.

Amo Bassan

Designer
Amo has worked for a range of design agencies in the UK, France and the USA. He has worked with on- and offline media, and frequently manages design teams as well as delivering outstanding creative work himself.

He has significant experience of designing user interfaces for screen-based media including Internet, kiosk and CD-ROM platforms. Amo has worked on the design and development of numerous corporate identities and has also led major identity and interface design projects for Culture Online / 24 Hour Museum, Interface Europe, Local Government Leadership Centre and St Bede's School.

Amo is also an experienced typographer, illustrator, video editor, artist, DJ and photographer.

Clifford Barton

Designer
Clifford Barton has an honours degree in Fine Art from West Surrey College of Art and Design. He joined Cogapp in March 1995 after working in advertising as an art director and package designer for clients including American Express, Nescafe, L'Oreal, and Coca Cola. Clifford was one of our key staff on the Washington Micro Gallery project and our leading 3D specialist. Clifford continues to work with us as a consultant.

Jeremy Mabbitt

Programmer
Jeremy Mabbitt joined Cogapp in January 2000 as a programmer. After a short period at Oxford University, Jeremy studied at Exeter University and gained a degree in Engineering Science. He then went on to Sussex University to read an MSc in Evolutionary and Adaptive Systems and graduated with distinction. He is a specialist in Java software development.

Jeremy has now gone on to develop his own business, see www.codefarm.com for details.

Joss Munro

Producer
Until recently, Joss Munro was one of Cogapp producers. She managed web and kiosk based projects for some of Cogapp's museum-sector clients including the Royal Pavilions Libraries and Museums, Sheffield Galleries and Museums Trust and the National Museum of Women in the Arts.

Prior to joining us in 1999, Joss completed an Honours Degree in Fine Art at the University of Brighton, and a Certificate in Multimedia from the University of Sussex. Previously she also worked as a technical volunteer at Lighthouse, a digital arts organisation.

Joss is now combining family life with various other commitments including freelance assignments with Cogapp.

Kevan Davis

Programmer
Kevan has been working as a programmer for over seven years following a BSc in Computer Science from De Montfort University. Kevan specialises in database-related development work, using PHP, ASP and MySQL.

At Cogapp, Kevan has worked on various web sites for the Home Office and the Coffyn Collection, the Art Explorer for Chicago Institute of Art and a press release facility for the National Portrait Gallery.

Matt Pearson

Programmer
Matt previously worked as a film-maker and writer/editor back in his native Midlands but for Cogapp he adopted the guise of Multimedia Engineer and Programmer. Somewhere along the line he picked up a couple of degrees, one in Media & Communications and one in Computing, studied at a variety of inauspicious institutions around the country. He also knows a lot about comics.

Nik Honeysett

Producer
Nik Honeysett worked with Cogapp for more than ten years. A graduate of Brighton University, Nik holds a BSc and an MSc in microprocessors. Before joining Cogapp in March 1989, Nik worked at the BBC Interactive Television Unit. Nik worked on all our art museum-related projects, including the original Micro Gallery project in London. Nik now works at the Getty Museum in Los Angeles.

Piran Montford

Programmer
A Windows and internet expert and also an exceptionally good Macintosh programmer, Piran joined the company in September 1995. He is now working on e-commerce applications. Very occasionally he turns up in Brighton for an hour or two of consultancy or a meal.

Sophia Robertson

New Business Director
Sophia holds a BA in Ancient History and Archaeology and an MA in Museum and Gallery Management, and has worked for a number of museums including the Victoria & Albert Museum, and the National Maritime Museum, where she project managed content and production of the Search Station project and museum website.

Sophia was previously Arts and Culture Director at Big Picture Interactive. She has a special interest in museums and online learning, and has given seminars on the subject for various organisations including the Museums Association, New Opportunities Fund and Society of Archivists. Previously our New Business Director, as of September 2003 Sophia is taking time out to enjoy life with her son Dylan.

Tim Frost

Tim Frost is currently pursuing his calling as an animator. You can see his work on his home page at www.animoke.com.

Vici Hemming

Office Manager
Vici ran Cogapp's offices from 1990 to 2001. She contributed to almost almost all the projects we worked on during the period. She has now moved from Brighton to Devon and is staying in touch by doing freelance work editing our Art Guide project.

Selena Ulrich (1976-2004)

Programmer
Selena worked with the company as a programmer until July 2003, having joined in January 2001 and previously spent a year and a half studying for an MSc in Information Systems at the University of Brighton. Before that she studied for a BA in Intellectual History at the University of Sussex, which is where she also acquired her deep love of Brighton. She died suddenly in June 2004. She is sorely missed by those who knew her.
