Codeo Challenge Number 2 - The Results
November's Codeo challenge (to revolutionise that old gem, Tetris, using Javascript) was undoubtedly a tough one, and really separated the cowboys from the critters. So well done to the sharp-shootin' coders who rose to the challenge.
There could only be one winner, however, and Simon Wibberley emerged victorious with his mind-bending 3-D Tetris created with Processing, a programming language designed for the electronic arts and visual design communities. We were really impressed with how Simon used newfangled technology to take Tetris to the next dimension, without losing the addictive essence of the Tetris we know and love.
Keen eyed viewers will no doubt notice that Simon's entry isn't actually running in Javascript! Our top tip for the challenge was to use the 3-D Processing API and it seems in suggesting this we got so carried away with possibilities, we forgot to check whether the possibilities were even all possible… Whist we hold our hands up for this calamity we are delighted with Simon’s effort and his reckless disregard for the rules.
You can experience Simon's entry here, but be careful - you might not be able to stop!
Look out for the special bumper Christmas and New Year Codeo challenge, which will be unveiled to you very soon...
