Internal Digest 8
We thought it would be selfish of us to keep all these delightful morsels from the Cogapp internal blog to ourselves, so here's a few highlights of the latest in creative imagination, digital inspiration and technical innovation for your perusal:
On your Bike: Avid cyclist, techophile and all-things-quirky enthusiast Tristan has been oggling the latest in the way of wierd and wonderful bicycle designs. Below is one of his personal highlights, check out a few more ingenious two-wheelers here.
2D or not 2D: That is indeed the question that out Head of New Technology, Joe, has been pondering - in this case with regards to YouTube's new 3D experiment. Whether or not people will be jumping out of their seats at the prospect of images jumping out of the screens at them remains to be seen, but it's an exciting idea nevertheless.
Quite Revolutionary QR: Also on Joe's ever-vigilant radar are some nifty little QR designs by Set Japan. They're not only impressive in their implementation and integration within the images, but are also 100% functional as well. Have a rummage through Set Japan's website for those interested to see what other wonders they've created.
Get up and Chicago: Gavin meanwhile has been examining a new feature at the Art Institute of Chicago. An on-site and online navigation system, dubbed Pathfinder, has been implemented to - as they say - help visitors discover and locate a wide variety of artworks on display as well as exhibitions, daily events, and visitor amenities. Have a look at the online version here.
Space Invaders 2.0: Contrary to what films such as Independence Day, Mars Attacks! and War of the Worlds would have you believe, all that we'd really need to do if aliens invaded is throw some bouncy balls at them. At least this is the impression Multitouch Barcelona are giving via their ingenious game Multiouch Space Invaders (and just in case the aliens are a bit bigger than we'd expected, they're prepared an extra large version too)! The basic premise of Space Invaders, combined with a large touchscreen and some throwable balls adds entirely new dimensions to the old-school classic - almost makes me imagine what it would be like if Space Invaders and People Pong had a baby!
And finally... introductions: Courtesy of inspiration provided by Creative Review, we've been giving thought to our favourite film title sequences. With classics such as The Man with the Golden Arm interspersed with sparks of modern genius like Napolean Dynamite in their choices, our personal highlights include Delicatessen, the brilliantly evocative sequence from Lord of War and the unforgettable sequence from The Pink Panther.
I challenge anyone to watch it and not have the urge to hum along.
