Royal College of Art show

I went up to London yesterday to see the Royal College of Art's graduate show, which was a real treat. I saw loads of great work - here's a small selection: An exciting plug anyone? This one is designed by Min-Kyu Choi from the Design product course. It's brilliant.

Really nice illustrations by Hannah Warren

Haruka Shinji had put a book together called Once a Year about the annual concert of a 'Batphonist, the world's only bat player', and also made some great screen prints to accompany the book.

I really liked the work of Lucia Massari from the Design Products course. She's got a fun website called Better Today Than Tomorrow, which shows a daily collection of her (usually wierd/funny/scary) ideas. I especially liked her work because she was giving away maps of London with a geographically accurate tube map printed over the top - something I'd been wondering about just a few days before. Thanks! 2day-copy.jpg

From the same course, Merel Karhof made a brilliant Wind Knitting Factory; Windmill + knitting machine + RCA = scarves for sale.

Nice graphic design from Povilas Utovka and Alistair Webb. This is an exhibition identity for Code Share - alastairwebb.jpg

Animation graduate Tom Judd made a brilliant short film called Bruce, where an overweight gamer grows his very own action hero. Unfortunately only the trailer is available online at the moment - fingers crossed for more soon. See the video here. bruce008-1.jpg

Lastly, a 'Self Portrait Machine' by Jen Hui Liao. The device takes the sitter's photo, and then the machine guides the sitter's hands and draws out their photograph. Have a look at this video to see the machine in action.

Tom Judd's Eyebrow Hat is also a great idea.
