Cognitive Applications becomes Cogapp
November 2006
Cognitive Applications announces its new name and the old seven syllable mouthful becomes a much more manageable two: Cogapp.
The re-brand reflects developments in the company, which celebrated its twentieth birthday in February. In the last few years it has significantly strengthened its team and extended its range of services. Recent developments include new capabilities in strategy consulting, information architecture, user-centred and graphic design.
A series of re-branding workshops, led by renowned interactive designer Professor Malcolm Garrett, Creative Director of AIG, and Cogapps Head of Design, Colin Jenkinson, has produced a communications strategy that properly reflects the company, the world it lives in and the capabilities it brings to clients.
The same process has also informed the Cogapp websites re-design and development, conducted in-house using the companys creative methodology. This encompassed user-testing from wire frames to the finished site with existing and potential clients and was facilitated by associates, Web Usability Partnership.
Colin Jenkinson, Cogapps Head of Design commented: Weve always been positioned in a technical world, but we put people at the heart of our working process. To reflect this, we wanted our new identity to communicate with clarity and warmth.
Alex Morrison, Cogapps Managing Director said: The last few years have been a period of transformation for the industry and for us as well. We have developed a highly effective method for doing creative work, we have added new capabilities and we have assembled a remarkable team. The results of this transformation are apparent in commissions from the Home Office, the BBC, the British Museum and MoMA in New York. This re-brand completes a process of change. Our re-launched Cogapp is now ready to go out to a much wider world.
