Cleveland Museum of Art launches kids site

July 2004

Cogapp has delivered the latest in a series of projects for Cleveland Museum of Art (CMA), a substantial online service for school-age children called CMA Kids.

Divided into four main areas: Art, Egyptomania, Cleveland History and Arms and Armour, CMA Kids features a range of activities including quizzes, colouring books and mask-making. The section's purpose is to provide children with inspirational and accessible routes into the Museum's rich and diverse collection of over 40,000 works.

Previous projects delivered by Cog App for Cleveland Museum of Art include re-development of the Museum's overall web site; interactive kiosks about The World of Viktor Shrekenghost and How to Look at Textiles and the MUSE-award winning Picasso, La Vie kiosk.

Holly Witchey, Head of New Media Initiatives at CMA commented: "The Museum wanted kids & parents to feel there was a destination for them on the CMA website. A destination easily found from the homepage, and once found, more interesting for kids than the usual kid's programming found on a museum web page. We tried to design the kid's portion of the site using both a visual and textural vocabulary that is appealing to kids and rich in content."

Dr. Jason Ryan, Cog App's Production Director, added: "We're pleased that we've delivered a re-design that has fulfilled CMA's aims in engaging children and their parents and look forward to building on the experience gained in working with this audience."
