Soft launch for British Museum Site
June 2007
The British Museum has announced the soft launch of its new website.
The site was designed by Cogapp and developed by the British Museum, Cogapp and other contractors. The sites foundations were laid in an earlier research and IA development phase undertaken by Cogapp in partnership with Web Usability Partnership.
Aiming to engage the visitor in a visual journey that celebrates the diversity and scale of the Museums collection, the site uses simple object navigation tools and a well balanced, clear and inviting design that seamlessly integrates all levels of the website.
The established British Museum brand was expanded for screen-based applications, and a comprehensive set of design guidelines were produced to provide inspiration and outline the character of the website.
Cogapps technical team rose to the challenge of delivering visually rich HTML templates with level AA accessibility which are currently being implemented.
The launch is planned for October.
