• Publishing Collections Online - white paper now available

News

A white paper is now available for the museums community and other collection owners which describes effective ways to put collections data and catalogues online.

Based on years of successful practice working for clients like the National Portrait Gallery, our paper considers what is required in order to start putting a collection online. Our discussion shows the need for a publishing system to output material from an internal system.

We consider the different requirements of internal databases and online publications and then describe Cognitive Applications' COBOAT publishing system; how it meets the general requirements and some of the additional features it offers. Further sections describe COBOAT in operation, its architecture, other elements needed in order to make a complete online collections catalogue, and finally how we make COBOAT available.
