Bichard Inquiry
The Home Office
Our Brief
To create a website and publishing system for the Bichard Inquiry into child protection procedures in Humberside Police and Cambridgeshire Constabulary following the Soham murders.
Our Role
Consultants and Producers
What We Did
Following the high level of public interest in the Hutton Inquiry website, the Home Office wanted a comprehensive website for the Bichard Inquiry beginning in January 2004. Working within a very tight timeframe and with a graphic design provided by the Home Office, we implemented a publishing system using third party software (KnowledgeBase) so that the busy Inquiry team could maintain the website with a minimum of staff overhead. We also built a bespoke database and ASP publishing system so that the Inquiry team could upload PDFs of the evidence being presented to the Inquiry.
The Results
The Inquiry team found the publishing system easy to use and updated the website daily with transcripts of the day's hearings and accompanying documentary evidence (www.bichardinquiry.org.uk). We subsequently built a similar system for the Zahid Mubarek Inquiry (www.zahidmubarekinquiry.org.uk) .
