What We Did
Working with health consultants the Balance of Care Group, we designed and produced a website to support the CAREdirect pilot scheme using Cogapp's CEF management tool. As with all our government websites, the site complied with all relevant government guidelines including the Guidelines for UK web sites and was built using XHTML in compliance with the e-Government Interoperability Framework (e-GIF). It also incorporated Dublin Core metatags to comply with the e-Government Metadata Framework.
The Results
CAREdirect was a new Department of Health initiative to provide advice and support to people over 55. Beginning in October 2001, the project was launched in six pilot areas of the South West. The website, designed with the accessibility needs of the target audience in mind, provided information about the pilot areas, contact details for housing and social services across England and Wales and a large directory of links to resources for older people.
