ICONS - A Portrait of England
Culture Online
The project has had coverage in every major domestic national newspaper and many local papers. TV and radio coverage added to the impact of what we believe has been an unprecedented level of launch for a purely online not-for-profit project.
Supported by this publicity we have taken the site from nothing to a Google ranking of 7/10 and an audience that is on course to exceed its targets by 100%.
Fulfilling one of Culture Online's key objectives we have found many opportunities for partnerships. Notable organisations who have worked with ICONS include Mencap, Age Concern, the National Trust, English Heritage, the National Portait Gallery, Visit Britain, the Jewish Museum and 1001 Inventions.
The education programme has attracted a healthy audience, achieving roughly 1,000 lesson plan downloads/month. Our collaboration with Mencap led to a national competition for artists in special schools and the publication of a beautiful calendar illustrated with the best entries.
