BFI appoints Cogapp to develop new digital experience
June 2010
Following a competitive public tender, we are pleased to announce that we have been appointed by the British Film Institute to create a new digital experience at BFI.org.uk: a government funded website which exists to celebrate film and television culture in the UK. The one-year digital redevelopment project starts immediately, with a launch planned for later in 2010 and a second phase planned for early 2011.
We are delivering a new site that will play a central part in the BFI’s mission to champion the diversity of moving image culture, engaging and inspiring a wider audience by providing online access to the rich film and and TV collections and information it cares for. User testing is a key component of the development for both the website and for mobile device compatibility in the future. Mother London are also involved in the project.
Paula Le Dieu, Director of Digital at BFI, said: “We selected Cogapp based on their experience in delivering creative digital services in the cultural sector. We were particularly impressed by their track-record and their emphasis on user experience. Following an extraordinarily successful year with record breaking attendance at our venues and festivals, our new digital offering will help us reach our potential online too.”
Alex Morrison, MD at Cogapp commented: “The BFI is a world-leading film institution and, following a rigorous and highly competitive pitch process, we’re very excited to be creating their new digital offering. The BFI offers an incredible range of content and services and we’ll be working closely with them to ensure they are easily available online using intuitive and user-centric design to help attract new and diverse audiences.”
