Cogapp’s Magnificent Maps interactives shortlisted for BIMA Award
November 2010
We’re thrilled to announce that the interactive installations we developed for The British Library's Magnificent Maps exhibition have been shortlisted for a British Interactive Media Association (BIMA) Award in the Interactive Installation category.
Earlier this year, we developed four interactive map tables to bring the British Library's impressive collection of large-scale maps to life, making them more accessible and informative in an interactive and user-friendly manner. Over-sized magnifying glasses enlarged areas of the maps in greater detail and allowed visitors to really engage with the maps, transforming them from a 2-D to a 3-D experience.

The interactive displays were used extensively within the exhibition, receiving much praise and critical acclaim. By the time the exhibition closed in September 2010 over 11,634 people had visited making it one of the most popular exhibitions that the British Library has ever created and the most successful virtual exhibition ever.
The BIMA Awards celebrate the work of the UK digital creative industry. As one of five finalists in the Interactive Installation category, our Magnificent Maps interactives have been recognised as one of the best uses of digital interactivity in a physical setting. The winners will be announced on 25th November at the awards ceremony held at Heaven London in Charing Cross.
