Cogapp mash-up puts Burngreave Voices on the Map
March 2007
Burngreave Voices, an online community project that celebrates the history of the area through the stories of its residents, has been launched by Mrs Jackie Drayton, the Lord Mayor of Sheffield. The project was developed by Sheffield Galleries & Museums Trust in partnership with Burngreave New Deal for Communities.
The microsite focuses on the neighbourhood of Burngreave in Sheffield, providing information gathered over a three-year period about the history of the area and, most importantly, about the people who live there and the stories they tell of their lives.
Using a mash-up of Google Maps developed by Cogapp the user can explore the Burngreave area, seeing where the stories originate from and navigating between them.
It is hoped that the archive will grow and be further enriched as new memories and stories are added.
This collaboration with Sheffield Galleries & Museums Trust is the latest in a long line of successfully delivered projects by Cogapp including the development of their main website, a number of interactive kiosks and an online collection.
Dominic Russell-Price, Marketing Officer (Campaigns & Digital), Sheffield Galleries & Museums Trust said of the collaboration:
As ever, working with Cogapp, in particular Gavin and Steve, made the realisation of the project’s web presence a swift and painless process. We are especially pleased with the Google Maps interface and already have plans to roll out the format to other areas of our site.
