Cogapp to participate at upcoming museum conferences
March 2010

Cogapp will have a presence at two major upcoming conferences in the culture and heritage sector: Museums and the Web in Denver, Colorado and MuseumNext in London.

Museums and the Web is considered to be the major international conference for museums in the digital space. It explores the social, cultural, design, technological, economic and organisational issues of museums online. Featuring a wealth of noteworthy speakers from famous institutions all over the world - including presentations from representatives of the British Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Tate Gallery and the Smithsonian Institution - the conference is a hub of innovative ideas and activity within the sector.

Joe and Gavin will both be attending the conference and in addition, our technical team, lead by Joe in his capacity as our Head of New Technology, will be developing a mobile application for the conference. The app will allow users to download the conference's timetable to their phone, and then view, search and filter it as they go. It will also be able to recognise the imminence of events - showing users which events are about to start, where these will be and alerting individuals to events they've tagged as especially interesting to them.

MuseumNext is a one day event held for museum staff, technology experts and audiences to share success stories from some of the world's top museums and galleries. Through discussion and collaboration about how museums use the web to keep up with audience expectations, build deeper relationships and use technology to meet their wider objectives, the conference aims to spread practical advice to attendees on how their organisations can make the most of the web and how to make museums more web 2.0 friendly.

BenRachael and Kate will all be at the conference to share their experiences of working with organisations ranging from internationally renowned museums such as the British Museum and the Museum of Modern Art in New York, to smaller institutions such as Sheffield Museums and Brighton and Hove Galleries.

The Museums and the Web conference is held from April 13th - April 17th and MuseumNext is on April 30th. Tickets for both events are sold out, but if you're attending be sure to say hello to anyone you see from Cogapp.
