Cogapp to participate in upcoming museum conferences
October 2010

Cogapp is participating in two upcoming conferences in the culture and heritage sector: Museum Computer Network in Austin, Texas and UK Museums and the Web in London.

The Museums Computer Network's (MCN) annual conference explores the latest advances in museum technology, with this year’s theme being 'I/0: The Museum Inside-Out/ Outside-In.’ If you’re heading over to Austin for the conference, be sure to say hello to Cathy, Joe and Silvia who will be attending from 27-30th October.

Joe Baskerville will be delivering a session The Invisible Interactive, and will be speaking about the success of the interactives we developed for the British Library’s Magnificent Maps exhibition alongside Ryan Doherty of the British Library.

Cathy Pierce will be delivering a session called The Collaborative Calendaring Project, alongside Rich Cherry from Balboa Park who won our usability session in last year’s MCN silent auction, which will talk about the success of the project. This year we will once again be donating a usability session, where we’ll work with the winning museum to improve their websites effectiveness through user-testing and usability consultancy so be sure to take part if you’re going to be there.

Later in the year we’ll be attending and speaking at UK Museums and the Web annual conference on 26th November. The conference explores the social, cultural, design, technological, and economic issues of museums online and brings together delegates in the online museum sector.

This year’s conference will be held at the Museum of London, on the theme 'Doing more with less: rising to the digital challenge in difficult times.' Alex Morrison, will be presenting on the topic 'Fund Imaginatively,' discussing the opportunities for digital engagement by museums in response to the current debate surrounding proposed government cuts, and lessons learned from last month’s museums and online fundraising seminar we hosted with Blue State Digital.
