Cogapp wins competitive tender for two Higher Education websites
May 2006

After a competitive tendering process, Cogapp has been awarded the contract to re-design and re-develop two websites relating to Higher Education.

The first is for the Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning through Design (CETLD), whose function is to promote teaching and learning excellence in parallel with research and consultancy. Led by the Faculty of Arts & Architecture at the University of Brighton, the CETLD partnership comprises the Victoria & Albert Museum (V&A), the Royal College of Art (RCA) and the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA).

The second is for the Higher Education Academy Art Design Media Subject Centre (ADM-HEA). The ADM-HEA, which opened in 2000, is wholly funded by the Higher Education Academy (HEA) and is part of a national network of 24 Subject Centres focusing on aspects of learning and teaching within their own subject disciplines.

As both websites will be built using Plone (an open-source Content Management System), they have agreed to develop their respective websites jointly.

There is common ground in terms of functionality up to a certain point in the development. Beyond that, the sites will diverge, and content, functionality and brand identity will become individualised for each site. Both sites will therefore be self contained, each with its own URL, but served from the same underlying CMS.

The sites are due to be launched in early Autumn.
