Cogapp wins National Portrait Gallery website tender
September 2007
Cogapp is delighted to have been awarded the contract to re-develop the National Portrait Gallery’s website, after a highly competitive tender process that saw just under 100 companies enter the first round, and seven companies make it onto the shortlist.
The major re-development will involve the creation of a fresh information architecture supported by the implementation of new content-management systems. Cogapp's design department will deliver the site's graphic design as part of the broader vision to extend and enhance the Gallery's brand online.
The team, led by Rachael Rainbow and Ian Smith, are embarking on the Discovery phase of the project, which includes stakeholder interviews with key Gallery staff and user research.
José Robertson, Head of Digital Programmes at the National Portrait Gallery, commented: “The National Portrait Gallery is delighted to have appointed Cogapp for the re-development of its website. We are confident Cogapp, the Gallery's partner on digital developments for the past 8 years, offers an excellent balance of skills and will deliver on all aspects of our wide-ranging plan.
During the re-development tender process it became clear Cogapp’s view of the Gallery's digital strategy closely mirrors our vision, and we were particularly impressed with their plan for involving stakeholders at all levels in the Gallery, to cover our needs and help us understand the re-development’s resource requirements.
In addition to possessing solid technical skills and experience in providing a broad range of web services, Cogapp have made thoughtful suggestions for better integration and automation of the Gallery's back-end systems. Working closely in partnership with Cogapp we aim to meet the Gallery's requirements in terms of architecture, navigation, design and planning for future developments.”
