The digital installations that we developed for Newcastle's flagship Great North Museum (GNM) that opened in Spring 2009 have been shortlisted for a British Interactive Media Association (BIMA) Award.

We produced 15 software interactives and 10 audiovisual (AV) presentations, ranging from wall-sized recreations of ancient temples and virtual oceans to simple audio descriptions provided on listening wands. The installations help the museum bring a wide variety of historical, geographical and natural world exhibitions to life. Described as "jaw-droppingly impressive", the digital components of the ground-breaking museum were created in conjunction with GNM staff and exhibition designers Casson Mann to ensure the vision of the museum was communicated through the installations.

The BIMA Awards - in association with Digital Arts - celebrate the work of the UK digital creative industry. As one of the final four entrants in the 'Offline - Kiosk, Installation or On-Site Application' category, our GNM interactives are recognised as one of the best uses of interactivity within a physical setting. The criteria for this category illustrate that finalists 'utilise user interaction to achieve things that would be otherwise impossible or difficult via other media types.' The winners will be announced on 19th November at the awards ceremony at KOKO in Camden.
