LEARNist launched: an Online service for Information Technology students
January 2002
Publicity began today, January 21st, for a large-scale online service dedicated to providing coverage on the state-of-the-art in European Information Technology research. The LEARN project is being now publicised for the first time.
The site, available in all eleven official languages of the European Union, is a guide to research in Information Technology. Aimed at students and life-long learners with an interest in IT careers, the site includes a wealth of material relating particularly to the thousands of European Union-funded research projects currently underway as part of the Fifth Framework programme.
The LEARN project is being developed by a consortium of European organizations. Cogapp is developing the technology infrastructure including content management and delivery systems.
Initial response to the site has been excellent - 'a fantastic resource' and 'very easy to use' were two immediate plaudits from visitors.
