New Online Collection for MoMA
April 2005
The Museum of Modern Art has launched its new online collection feature for the web site at MoMA.org.
The online collection replaces a previous selection of approximately 200 works with about 2,500 works from the Museum's collection - and that number will increase as further material is reviewed and approved.
Visitors to the site can browse collection highlights by department or decade, explore the works of a specific artist, or search the collection by keyword, artist, title, department, or year. The museum has also launched a new e-card section that allows visitors to e-mail personalized links to images of works from the online collection, as well as exhibition and special occasion cards.
Cognitive Applications provided the technology for these new facilities, bringing large sections of the world's most extensive collection of modern art to the public for the first time. The online collection is driven by our COBOAT publishing system.
