Arts Council England
Identity & Website for Artists taking the lead
About the Project
The Cultural Olympiad’s purpose is to widen the experience of the 2012 Olympics beyond sports participation and leave a lasting cultural legacy for the nation. Working together for the first Cultural Olympiad initiative, Arts Council England and LOCOG (The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games) are looking for twelve ideas for twelve projects in twelve places to make their mark on the cultural landscape in 2012 and beyond.
Cogapp conceived the competition's identity and design vision, encouraging artists to imagine the nation as a 'blank canvas' as they compete for one of the twelve commissions. We created a series of designs revolving around the idea of 'art in unexpected places'; underlining the invitation to everyone in the whole country to participate. Cogapp provided all aspects of the site's development through the three stages of the campaign - call for entries; shortlist; announce winners - as well as design guidelines and collateral marketing material.
Accolades
"Cogapp helped us create not only a beautiful design for our project, but a simple solution to a complex behind-the-scenes scoring system with different levels of access. They were supremely helpful, and a joy to work with."
Sophie Woodward, Communications Officer, Arts Council England
"Artists taking the lead illustrates that bigger, bolder vision of art inspiring people up and down the UK to celebrate the Olympic Games, of nurturing and developing our artistic talent, and of culture and creativity at the heart of our national life."
Moira Sinclair, Executive Director of Arts Council England, London
