The BP Portrait Award, at the National Portrait Gallery for the past 30 years, is the most prestigious portrait competition in the world.  Promoting the very best in contemporary portrait painting, the exhibition has proved to be the launch pad for the careers of a number of successful portrait artists.

Having previously designed and developed their main website, the National Portrait Gallery approached us to create a microsite for the Award. The ensuing agile development process allowed for swift and effective delivery of designs and wireframes. Our design approach ensured that the look and feel was in keeping with the online brand, and also drew on the powerful visuals of the portrait submissions themselves.   The resultant site was easily integrated into the content management system we had previously delivered for the Gallery, interacting with important areas of the main site such as the events calendar and shop, and providing a framework that could be implemented immediately and easily adapted for future iterations of the Award.
