Alex Bridge / Senior Web Developer
Alex is a senior web developer, with substantial experience producing database-driven websites using PHP, SQL, C++, ASP and Python. He plays a key part in deciding technical approaches during early project stages, and often co-ordinates and guides junior members of the technical team with their programming and development tasks. A specialist in Content Management Systems, he frequently sets up, customises and extends open-source systems such as Drupal and Plone to meet bespoke client needs.
His experience of Drupal was utilised for ParaData, a large community history project for the Airborne Assault Museum in Duxford, where he extended the system to meet the project's challenging requirements. He worked with Plone on a number of projects for the University of Brighton, developing the system for the specific needs of their Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning Through Design, Centre for Research and Development, and Centre for Research in Innovation Management. He has also worked on numerous other projects for such clients as Culture Online, the Jewish Museum in New York and the British Museum.
Previous to joining Cogapp in Summer 2005, Alex worked briefly as a Flash programmer, and then as a web developer for clients including BSkyB and International Save The Children Alliance. He graduated from Exeter University with a BSc in Computer Science in 2000, and from Sussex University with an MSc in Evolutionary and Adaptive Systems in 2001.
