Andy initially joined Cogapp as Technical Department Intern in August 2006, before moving into the role of a Programmer. In recognition of his work on a number of projects including the British Library and iCAV, he moved into his current position as an Interactive Developer in May 2010. He is experienced in both PHP and ASP and is familiar with the most popular web databases including MySQL, MS-SQL and PostgreSQL. Andy also handles the more advanced Linux administration on our external servers (Apache configuration, system security).
He is familiar with Python and AppleScript as well as some of Cogapp's in-house software such as the content management system CEF and the COBOAT database tool. At Cogapp, Andy has worked on websites for clients including Letsema, the Jewish Museum New York, MoMA and also Brighton Museum. He typically works with online collections, developing COBOAT scripts to update a museum's online collection automatically from the museum's collection management system.
Andy was recently introduced to Cocoa and Quartz Composer for his work on the Prudential Eye. He is looking forward to learning more about mobile programming, for example iPhone-specific Cocoa and Objective-C.
He has a BSc (Hons) in Software Engineering from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne.
