Culture Online
Culture Online was established by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport in 2002. Its aim is to encourage participation in the arts and culture through the innovative use of technology. ICONS is one of Culture Online's flagship commissions.
In 2003 we received Culture Online's initial brief for ICONS. The summary read as follows: to create 'an online collection of the country's iconic objects of cultural significance, delightful to use and easy to navigate, with deep content from a wealth of contributing partners. "Icons" will represent both a wonderful experience for users and a creative collaboration between cultural institutions.'
ICONS was awarded to Cogapp as the result of an extended competitive tender.
Our Role
Responding to a very broad brief we not only built the site but assembled an organisation to develop and support it.
