Diving Deeper With Monterey Bay Aquarium

Cogapp launches a redesigned digital home for one of the world's great marine institutions

The Monterey Bay Aquarium has inspired a love of the ocean in millions of people since it opened on Cannery Row in 1984. Its mission to inspire conservation of the ocean has always extended beyond its walls, reaching audiences around the world through research, education, and mobilising action. Its website needed to do the same.

We're proud to have designed and built a new website for the Aquarium, powered by Craft CMS. The project brought together a refreshed visual identity, a more flexible and sustainable content platform, a fully bilingual experience in English and Spanish, and continued focus on accessibility, ensuring the site works beautifully for every visitor, on every device.

Working in close collaboration with the Aquarium's team, we built a platform that gives editors the independence to create compelling content without the technical friction of the previous system. The new site brings the wonder of the Aquarium's work to the fore, from its celebrated kelp forest and sea otter rescue programme to its global ocean conservation leadership.

It has been a privilege to work alongside such a passionate and dedicated team, and we look forward to continuing to support the Aquarium as their digital ambitions grow.
