Alex Morrison, who founded Cogapp in 1985, is moving to a new role effective from the start of 2026.

He will remain as Cogapp’s Chair, but no longer work full-time in the company. He will continue to act as an ambassador for the company and as a supporter and adviser to the board of directors led by CEO, Andy Cummins.

Reflecting on this change, Alex Morrison said:

““It has been the privilege of my life to get Cogapp this far. I am so proud of the company we have built, the work we’ve done and the way it has been dealt with. It feels wonderful to have reached our fortieth anniversary with such good prospects for the future and such confidence handing things over to Andy, Louise, Tristan and Ben.”
“Cogapp has a talented team with great leadership doing excellent projects for socially valuable clients. What more can we ask for?”
“From my point-of-view, stepping back from front-line duties while Cogapp steams ahead is not about retirement. It frees me up to focus on our digital publishing spin-off, Magpie. If this goes according to plan, 2026 will be a momentous year.””

Andy Cummins, Cogapp’s CEO said:

““In Cogapp, Alex’s kindness, insight and energy have created something truly special. For forty years his leadership has guided the delivery of world-class digital projects all over the globe. He has fostered the careers of hundreds of people and supported the local digital economy, and digital in the cultural sector, in more ways than anyone can ever imagine. All of this has been done with integrity and heart, it really is an incredible achievement.”
“I count myself lucky to have him as a friend and, alongside the rest of the Cogapp board, look forward to his continued support as we progress into our fifth decade.””
