The Institute of Contemporary Arts

London, UK

The ICA SOUNDWORKS website was awarded Bronze and a People's Lovie Award in the 2nd Annual Lovie Awards.

“It’s a unique project that came about through the discussion surrounding the ICA Bruce Nauman show. The response from invited artists has been incredible and the site is proving incredibly popular with thousands of hits in the first hour.”
Gregor Muir, ICA Executive Director

During their innovative ‘season on sound from July - September 2012’ The Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA) designed and offered a series of exhibitions and events around sonic art.

In conjunction with the UK premiere of Bruce Nauman’s Days the ICA invited over one hundred international artists, selected by art institutions worldwide, to submit their own sound files. The project, entitled SOUNDWORKS, aimed to take a broader look at the range of work being produced in audio arts today. To embrace the ephemeral and nature of sound the ICA wanted to create an online platform that doubled as a virtual exhibition space.
